Federal Tax Incentives
Work Opportunity (WOTC) and Welfare to Work (WTW) Tax Credits
The federal WOTC and WTW tax credit programs offer tax relief to employers when they hire individuals from any of the programs' targeted groups. They offer up to $2,400 and $8,500 per qualifying employee, respectively.
Targeted groups include members of low income families that have received various kinds of public assistance, qualifying veterans, ex-felons, youth, employees and others.
Federal Incentive Zones Wage Credit Programs
The Empowerment Zone Employment Credit (EZ Wage Credit) and Renewal Community Employment Credit (RC Wage Credit) give businesses an incentive to retain or hire individuals who live and work in an Empowerment Zone (EZ) or a Renewal Community (RC). They offer up to $3,000 and $1,500 respectively per qualifying employee annually during the life of the zone.
